The
House of Judah “A Place Where Worship to the LORD Abides”
began its ministry to the body of Christ in March, 2001.
The first location was the home of Pastor
Steven and Lady Sylena Mangum in East
Elmhurst, New York. We began with twelve members, which included six
children. The living room was the sanctuary; the dining room became
the overflow room, which we hardly used, and of course, we also had
our children’s room and the fellowship room.
Three months later, the House of Judah relocated to
one of the founding member’s house in Laurelton, New York. Not
only did we have a sanctuary, overflow staircase, fellowship room, we
now had an outdoor recreational area for our children and all of the
other children in the neighborhood. The children in the neighborhood
knew two things: what time service was over and what time dinner was
served; they were never late to either! We also had more than enough
for every child that attended the after-service fellowship.
Four months later, in September of 2001, we relocated
to a community center in Springfield Gardens, New York; we added an
additional service: Bible instruction and prayer on Wednesday evenings.
Six months later, on March 15, 2002, we relocated to a rented storefront
on Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, New York.
While at the Jamaica location, our pastor and visionary
began to prepare us for the next move by speaking it by faith; he prophesied
that we would have our own property by January, 2007.
In August of 2007, The House of Judah purchased a two-building
property inclusive of a sanctuary, Pastor’s Parsonage and a parking
lot in West Sayville, New York.
For we know that, God is not a man, that he should lie;
neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall
he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Join us as we endeavor to establish a new “Place
Where Worship to the LORD Abides.”
